Maybe our futures line up.
I’m currently attending University of California, Santa Cruz. I live in a house with six others, I’m having a blast. I grew up in Southern California, but I live near silicon valley now. I’ve always grown up around beaches, but I sunburn easily.
In the past I’ve been an intern at a local startup, MarketMotive, where I edited video and learned basic SEO.
Before that, I worked as a telephone fundraiser for UCSC. Calling people to ask for money was an interesting and fun experience.
As for “real jobs”: I worked at a law firm in Santa Monica and at an Insurance Company in Monterey. I met a lot of cool people, but those experiences illustrate why working at an office is to be avoided.
I want to travel to other countries and see how lifestyles differ from place to place. I’m interested in Southeast Asia and South America for starters, but eventually plan to travel to all continents.
Traveling for long time periods intimidates me. I’m having trouble typing as I think about the challenges it will present. I’m not afraid to confront them, but I know it won’t as easy as the marketing hype makes it seem. But without risk there’s no reward.
I want to establish something that impacts people and provides for me financially. I want to be in a position to hang out with other entrepreneurs, other individuals who are brimming with ideas and confidence, not excuses and ‘pity me’ speeches. It’s not about the money. But money would be a boon.
